Journey through Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region to Hyden, home to Wave Rock, one of the country’s most remarkable natural formations. Departing the city, this day tour from Perth travels through the Perth Hills escarpment before entering vast farming landscapes. Heading east, there is a morning tea stop (own expense) in the historic town of York, the first township established in the Avon Valley. The journey continues along the Wheatbelt Highway through rural communities such as Corrigin and Kondinin, offering a glimpse into authentic outback farming life. Along the way, pass the well-known Dog Cemetery, a unique tribute that reflects the region’s strong connection between farmers and their working dogs.

The tour then continues to Hippo’s Yawn, a rock formation shaped like a yawning hippopotamus. From here, enjoy a relaxed country-style lunch at the Wildflower Shoppe, with time to explore nearby attractions including the Wildlife Park, the Antique Lace Collection, or the Toy Soldier Museum. The highlight of the experience is visiting Wave Rock, a striking granite formation that stands as a key attraction for those discovering wave rock in Perth, along with nearby Aboriginal cultural sites. Before departing, stop at Mulka’s Cave to learn about the local Indigenous story of Mulka.

After a comfort stop on the return journey, the tour concludes back in the city in the evening. This experience remains one of the most popular wave rock tours from Perth, offering a full day of scenic landscapes, history, and cultural insights.
