Step Back in Time at Oliver Hill

Take a journey to the historic Oliver Hill Guns and Tunnel Fortification and enjoy sweeping views over Rottnest Island.
Your tour begins with an informative ride up Oliver Hill, passing some of the island’s most iconic and historic landmarks.

On arrival, join a guided tour through the remarkable tunnel system, which played a vital role in Australia's coastal defence during World War II.
Discover how Rottnest Island became a strategic stronghold, housing intricate secret tunnels and 9.2-inch guns designed to defend Western Australia from potential attacks.

Thanks to the high cost of removal, the original guns were preserved after the war, offering visitors today a rare glimpse into Australia's wartime history.
This unique site stands as a tribute to the soldiers who once protected the coast and remains one of Rottnest Island’s most fascinating attractions.

Please note: Access to the historic Oliver Hill Guns and Tunnels involves climbing approximately 60 steps, so a moderate level of mobility is required.
