Zamia Cafe in Kings Park, Perth
When people head to beautiful Kings Park in Perth, Western Australia and decide to have lunch they tend to go to the cafes near the War Memorial. It is a great spot for lunch but it is nearly always crowded and bustling with tourists. The alternative in Kings Park (and in many ways the better option anyway) is Zamia Cafe which overlooks the Synergy Parkland towards the Park’s southwestern end.
Great views, great food
Although you don’t get glimpses of the Perth skyline from Zamia Cafe, you do get to sip on your coffee whilst enjoying views of the parkland and lakes which attract many local families. With big bi-folding windows that span the entire width of the cafe you can grab a table looking down onto the lake and relax.
Friendly staff and a good menu
The Cafe is open seven days a week but you can only book between Monday and Saturday as on Sundays it gets very busy, with Perth locals heading down to enjoy a lazy Sunday morning/afternoon in the Park. The staff are very welcoming and the food always seems to be well prepared and fresh. The menu is un-complicated and caters to most tastes – click here for a look at their different menus. They also have a take away window for those who just want to grab a quick coffee and one of Zamia Cafe’s lovely cakes, fruit smoothies or ice creams.
A Walk in the Park
The great bit about the location is that once you have finished your meal the park is right there so you can go for a nice long (or short) walk around to enjoy the flora and fauna. If you have kids with you they will be kept amused for ages on the Synergy Parkland playground, including a climbing castle that sits on an island in the middle of the lake.
