Perth Day Trips – Pick up locations
As Explore Tours Perth day trips are deliberately restricted to small groups we are able to pick Explorers up from most locations within the central Perth area. Go to the following link to check whether your hotel/apartment/backpacker hostel is on our departure point list – Departure Points
For those Explorers not staying within the central Perth area you will need to make your way to the Perth tourist coach stand pickup point on Wellington Street, right outside Perth train station. The exact location of the Tourist coach stand can be found here – Tourist Coach Stand information
If you don’t know where you are staying yet then please choose the Wellington Street Tourist Coach Stand option when booking. Once you have chosen a place to stay simply email us with the details and we will let you know if we can pick you up. Please make sure you email us at least three days before the date of the trip, otherwise we will assume you will be at the Wellington Street Tourist Coach Stand.
If you would like to book one of the Explore Tours explorer buses for your Perth day trip then we can pick you up from wherever you would like within the Perth Metro area including Fremantle.

Yes. Depending on how soon before the date of the trip you have booked, you will receive several email reminders about the trip.
The emails will remind you all about the upcoming ’Explore Tours’ day trip including the date, departure time and things you will need to bring with you.
‘Explore Tours’ restrict each scheduled day trip to twenty passengers, however, for private charters we can accommodate more.
‘Explore Tours’ feel that our explore guides can provide an intimate and consistent experience when the tour is restricted to this number of Explorers.
Yes. The team at ‘Explore Tours’ love children and are more than happy to have them on day trips.
Saying that, you should be aware that some of the trips are quite long (up to 14 hours) and we can be driving for up to two hours without stopping, so young children may get very restless.
The best trip for children would be the Swan Valley day trip as this is only seven hours long and the most time you will spend on the ‘Explorer Bus’ is around 30 – 45 minutes at any one time.
The Pinnacles day trip is also great for kids as the ‘Explorer Bus’ stops at a wildlife park where children (and adults) can feed the Kangaroos and get up close to lots of Australian animals.
‘Explore Tours’ would advise against taking children on the Margaret River tour unless you are confident that your child can spend a lot of time sitting down on the ‘Explorer Bus’.
The age range for Children varies on each tour so please check the pricing on each tour.
In general though Children are classed as those aged between 2 and 15 years old and you will need to pay the child price for them.
Infants are those aged below two years old and travel free on day trips as long as they sit on an Adult’s lap. No food is provided for Infants as it is assumed that the parents will bring food for them.
If you would like your infant to be provided with a child’s portion of lunch, or have their own space on the bus, you will need to select a child place rather than an infant when booking.
No. In vehicles that seat more than 12 people it is not compulsory for passengers to wear seatbelts. So children under 3 years old can travel free on ‘Explore Tours’ day trips as long as they sit on an adults lap.
Children who are three years old and over are required to have their own seat and you will need to pay the child price for them.
For more information on the Child Restraint laws in Western Australia please visit the Road Safety Commission website here.
‘Explore Tours’ are completely independent and do not have any affiliations with vineyards, restaurants, breweries or other venues.
Our philosophy is that we want our Explorers to have the best trip possible, so on ‘Explore Tours’ trips you go to the places we think will deliver the best and most consistent experience.
‘Explore Tours’ tell the owners of potential destinations that if they want us to bring our Explorers to their premises then they need to make sure they provide amazing service, every time.
The vineyards, breweries and restaurants that our Explorers get taken to are reviewed regularly and we do not hesitate to remove a venue from the preferred list if the service received on a trip isn’t up to scratch.
Handbags and small rucksacks are ideal for ‘Explore Tours’ trips to hold for sun cream, hats, cameras and snacks etc.
Yes. ‘Explore Tours’ is adequately insured for all of its operations through a Tourism Operators insurance policy.
You don’t need to be super fit to enjoy an ‘Explore Tours’ day trip. All of our trips involve a certain amount of walking, whether that is from the ‘Explorer Bus’ to a vineyard entrance or having a walk around the sandy pathways of the Pinnacles.
There may be some activities and destinations that aren’t suitable if you are unable to walk unaided e.g. without the use of a walking stick, however, our explore guides will make you well aware of this before you leave the ‘Explorer Bus’.
As explained elsewhere we regularly review the places that our Explorers go to on ‘Explore Tours’ day trips. The experience and service that you receive has to be of the highest quality and if it isn’t then that destination isn’t right for an ‘Explore Tours’ day trip.
The list of destinations for each trip also depends on the weather, time of year, seasons and whether a particular vineyard or restaurant is being renovated. It could be that on one day the temperature is going to be 40 degrees centigrade (very hot) so a restaurant with a great indoor area may be the best option. Another day could be a bit windy but 25 degrees so a vineyard with a stunning outside area that is well sheltered could be a great choice.
‘Explore Tours’ explore guides are briefed on the route and destinations that have been chosen the day before each trip, however, ‘Explore Tours’ explore guides know the areas and potential destinations very well so they are given license to change a destination at the last minute, but only if they think that another venue would be a better fit given the circumstances on the day.
The weather in Perth is fantastic (especially if you like sunshine) and is comparable to that of the Mediterranean. Perth is the sunniest capital city in the world, with an average 8 hours per day of sunshine, 365 days per year.
In the summer months (roughly November to March) it can get very hot, but the Fremantle doctor (a cool southwesterly breeze) helps to keep things feeling a little cooler.
In the winter months the daily temperature is still in the high teens and the wind dies down a lot, but the sun is still out and it is a great time for those who don’t like it too hot.
Spring and Autumn are brilliant times to visit Perth as the temperature is in the early to mid-twenties and hotel accommodation isn’t as expensive.
Perth has also been ranked inside the World’s top ten most livable cities for several years in a row, with part of the reason being the great climate. So whatever time of year you decide to come visit Perth we are pretty sure you will love it.
Comfortable footwear for walking short distances would be ideal, especially on the Pinnacles trip.
As Perth is the sunniest capital city in the world you will need sun cream, a hat, sunglasses, a bottle of water to keep you hydrated and a camera to capture all the amazing sights you will encounter.
Most of all remember to bring your adventurous spirit!
Unfortunately we do not currently have wheelchair accessible vehicles, but we are working on it and do hope to have some soon.
